What if a clinical trial could be conducted at the patients home? Decentralised clinical trials (DCTs) move the trial activities to the patient’s home and have the potential to enhance the conduct of clinical trials in multiple ways, including increasing accessibility for a wider population by eliminating geographical barriers at the same time offering the patient the comfort and convenience of performing the trial at their home. However, can we responsibly move clinical research to the patient’s home? What are the responsibilities of the patients? Does this movement affect satisfaction of the patient? Can all patients equally participate? We simply do not know yet. The RADIAL trial is a decentralised and hybrid proof-of-concept trial that aims to answer these research questions, so we can make informed decisions about the future of clinical research. With this trial we will shape the future of clinical research. We are currently recruiting for the RADIAL trial and therefore we are excited to introduce the trial and its goals.
