Supporting the Initiation of Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Primary Care

16 Nov 2023
NHS Park

The session will explore the implementation of a Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) policy and clinical guidance document to support the initiation and uptake of CGM in primary care.

Following the NICE recommendations to increase the availability of CGM, the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) Integrated Diabetes Delivery Team (IDDN) produced a clinical guidance document to support and promote patient CGM self-initiation with healthcare professional (HCP’s) support in primary care. The session will cover key aspects included in the document, including resources, education and prescribing information. It will also cover FAQ’s and challenges so far in CGM initiation in primary care.

Learning outcomes:

  • Collaboration and support from all local diabetes network team essential to drive change.
  • The value of a policy and clear guidance to implement and maintain change in practice (CGM initiation in primary care)
  • The importance of initial and ongoing training option
