MicroMatrix® stems from the Urinary Bladder Matrix (UBM) technology, which is derived from porcine bladders that are harvested and processed so that only the Lamina Propria and Epithelial Basement Membrane remain:
- The Lamina Propria displays an open and porous surface that allows for cellular infiltration and capillary ingrowth,
- The Epithelial Basement Membrane is a thin dense collagen structure that may contribute to cell attachment.
The result is biologic, minimally processed Extra-Cellular Matrix-based (ECM) scaffold that facilitates deposition of vascularized tissue.
It may be applied as a powder or paste, offering flexibility for coverage of all areas of the wound, including irregular or undermining wounds.
