Association of British Clinical Diabetologists is looking for a Professional Development Lead.

Professional Development Lead needed for exciting programmes

The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) is on the hunt for a consultant to take on an exciting position.

ABCD currently runs the successful National Diabetes Consultant Mentorship and Consultant Development Programmes and is seeking a Professional Development Lead for these initiatives to support current Faculty Lead Keith Whitfield.

ABCD Chair Dipesh Patel said: “Candidates should be an ABCD member of consultant status with an interest in professional and personal development education and leadership.

“Previous experience in medical education and, or in clinical leadership is helpful but not essential. You may also have experience as an ABCD Mentor or Mentee.”

The role, which is voluntary, will require the appointee to be able to give, on average, 1.0 PA per month, including attendance at ABCD Executive Committee meetings and participation in agreed NDCMP and CDP activities.

The person appointed will be a member of the ABCD Committee and be responsible for a series of tasks.

These include day-to-day oversight and governance, with the Faculty Lead, of both the National Diabetes Consultant Mentorship Programme and the Consultant Development Programme.

In addition, the successful candidate will also supervise the process of pairing mentors with mentees, supporting the CDP, attending the course to provide diabetes-specific input.

They will also give regular feedback to the ABCD committee on both programmes, develop a costed rolling three-year plan for delivery of both programmes, including a detailed annual delivery plan and alternative sources of funding and support the development of new personal development opportunities for consultants where additional funding can be found.

For further information contact keith.whitfield@ultimateperformance.org.uk

Candidates should submit your application by email including a covering letter together with your CV no later than Friday, July 29.
