Garry is a consultant in diabetes in Oxford. He qualified in Manchester and trained in Hull, London and Oxford before moving to consultant posts in Nottingham and then Derby, where he was instrumental in setting up integrated care organisations for diabetes care, even when they were very unfashionable. He returned to Oxford as clinical lead where he used NaDIA data to transform inpatient care, and later used core NDA data to support improvements in diabetes care across a geographical area. He holds a number of additional roles including regional clinical diabetes lead for NHSE South East as well as running the Diabetes & Endocrinology EWG on Costings and Payment. He staunchly believes that the organisation of care determines the quality of care people receive, and that data is the route to unlocking and then driving change in a system.
