Dr Janaka Karalliedde

Dr Janaka Karalliedde

Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital
Dr Karalliedde is a Clinical Reader in Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease in the School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences at King's College London and Consultant Physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology and Internal Medicine at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital London. He graduated with a distinction in medicine from the University of London and was awarded a PhD for research on the pathophysiology and treatment of cardiovascular disease and renal disease in diabetes. Janaka speaks frequently at national and international meetings, has published widely on cardiovascular and renal disease and is an associate editor of Diabetologia. He led on the UK diabetes and kidney association diabetes management guidelines for people with diabetic kidney disease. Janaka is a busy clinician, with more than 20 years of experience and specialist expertise managing patients with renal and cardio-vascular complications related to diabetes at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital and has also established community based clinics in London working with primary care colleagues focussed on early identification and treatment to reduce cardiovascular and renal complications.
