Sarah’s early career was in Greater Manchester local government. She joined the University of Manchester in 2007, undertaking research on the use of nudges to achieve citizen behaviour change. In 2011 she moved into health research, and has particular interests in research methodology and behaviour change at scale. She has undertaken research on NHS services including arthritis, mental health, public health, paediatric emergencies, end of life and type 2 diabetes. She currently leads HED-LINE, a multi-disciplinary independent evaluation of Healthy Living, an NHS digital self-management and education programme for people with type 2 diabetes; and she was part of the leadership team for DIPLOMA, a national evaluation of the NHS diabetes prevention programme.
